The Secret Life of Human NET-works

The installation is conceived to shape space while revealing what usually remains hidden beneath it: the invisible interwoven networks that sustain humans, a matrix at the crossover of ecological systems, hidden under social, digital and extractive structures. The installation was born to shape space, as a connector yet an unfinished series of design decisions as to remind of everything that lies behind, invisible to our choices.

Is it a compromise? But does it float?

It is not a symbol, nor a solution, but a suspended condition. A fragile structure that reflects humanity’s constant attempt to control, design, and organise space, often at the expense of other species and ecosystems. The material used is an agricultural net designed to protect fruit and vegetable production from birds: a dispositif of human ingenuity, removed from its original function, the net exposes the boundary between care and prevarication.

The balance of us humans is always a disgraceful and lightweight dance between the death of other species and our commodities.

The work reflects on the shapeshifting more-than-human intelligence: fungal mycelia, roots, bird migration routes, water bodies, living systems that communicate, adapt, and coexist through decentralised invisible ecological networks that connect their rhizomes and shapes beyond human control. In contrast, human NET-works float above the illusion of being autonomous while relying on invisible interdependencies.

The net is suspended between shelter and human structures, as every human design and NETwork is inseparable from the living systems it transforms.
